Congratulations Matilda Alexander on being the recipient of the 2022 Pride in Law Award. This is the first time a woman has received the award following Stephen Page and Emile McPhee as past recipients.
Matilda Alexander has been an influential advocate for LGBTIQA+ rights under legislation and policy. She was previously at the LGBTI Legal Service providing support to members of community who are disadvantaged.
At the time of winning the 2022 Pride in Law Award, Matilda was the Chief Executive Officer for Queensland Advocacy for Inclusion. This is an independent organisation advocating for the advancement of the needs, rights and lives of people with disability in Queensland. Matilda’s demonstrated advocacy skills over the years puts her in the perfect position to shine in this role.
Matilda continues to be a respected stakeholder for consultation in relation to legislation and policy that affects the LGBTIQA+ community.
The Pride in Law Award recognises and rewards outstanding contribution and commitment to the practice of LGBTIQA+ inclusion in the Queensland legal profession.
